Bruins double-up Flyers, 6-3

In Boston Saturday, it was the Brad Marchand as the Bruins forward scored two goals )one shorthanded) and added three assists in a 6-3 drubbing of the Philadelphia Flyers.

“I think it’s just that’s how hockey goes sometimes, pucks bounce your way and other times they don’t,” Marchand said. “It is nice when things are going your way, you feel a little more confident, you feel you’re able to do things you’re a little nervous to try at different times.”

Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds  scored for the Flyers who continue to look disorganized after their 10-game streak was snapped.

“We just didn’t play a good game today,” Simmonds said. “I thought we had a good start tonight but it kind of fell apart afterwards. There’s no excuses.”

Michal Neuvirth made 33 saves for the Flyers who dropped to 22-17-6.

Despite have success in the game with the man-advantage (the Flyers scored twice on the power play) they were held without a shot to start the third period a man up.

“I talked to the guys about how important that kill was going to be at the beginning of the third. Certainly didn’t want to give them any life. And I thought we did a good job of killing that and we went back to our game,” Boston head coach Claude Julien said of the penalty kill at the start of the third frame.
