Bruins double up Ducks in matinee

In Boston, David Pastrnak struck for four Bruins goals in a 4-2 win over the visiting Anaheim Ducks.

“I mean you know it’s always nice, that’s what I’m getting paid for and obviously … we got some goals and obviously overall with my linemates, made a couple passes and got a couple good passes from them, a good two points for us in the standings,” Pastrnak said.

Boston improved to 5-1-0.

Jaroslav Halak backstoppe4d the win and made 30 saves in the process.

The Ducks outshot the Bruins 32-23.

“The key here tonight is that the chances were there,” Ducks coach Dallas Eakins said. “If it was a night where you only score two goals and you had no chances at all I’d be a little bit more worried, but the generation of chances is important. We’re going to have to keep generating chances, it can’t be a one off, but we’ve got to finish now. That’s something you have to practice and it will be something that we’ll be on.”

Adam Henrique and Rickard Rakell scored for the Ducks.

John Gibson made 19 saves against the Bruins but could not solve the Pastrnak issue.

“I feel like those are the kind of nights – you have them yourself sometimes – the puck just kind of finds you. I think that he had one of those nights,” Hampus Lindholm said after Pastrnak’s efforts. “But obviously we needed to, me included, needed to do a much better job of not making him have so much fun out there.”
