Everyone was waiting for the bar to be set.
Not sure what bar everyone stepped into for a pint, but we now have teams and players settling their differences and signing contracts.
Restricted free agent signings have become the rage with the start of training camp.
Brock Boeser signed a three-year deal with the Vancouver Canucks worth $17.625 million and valued at $5.875 million annually.
“We’re very pleased to have Brock re-sign,” general manager Jim Benning said. “He’s a talented player, a key contributor to our offense and an important part of our team’s future. We look forward to having Brock join the team in preparation for the upcoming season.”
Boeser has 26 goals and 30 assists last season.
In Boston, Brandon Carlo inked a contract with the Bruins for $5.7 million, two-year contract. The annual cap hit will be $2.85 million.
Capfriendly.com places the Bruins with $1.15 million in space after the Bruins finished signing all of their RFAs.
In Philadelphia, the Flyers unloaded themselves of some pesky cash laying around and signed Travis Konecny to a six-year, $33 million contract; the deal has an average annual cap hit of $5.5 million.
“I’m really excited about signing with the Flyers and being able to call Philadelphia home for the next six years,” Konecny said. “I can’t wait to get back with my teammates and to start a new relationship with the coaching staff. It’s on me now to work hard and make up for the couple days I wasn’t able to be here.”
Konecny missed the opening of camp and reports are the Flyers were not happy about that, but so unhappy to give up the cash and years.
“We are happy to have Travis under contract for the next six seasons,” Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher said. “Travis has shown progression in each of his three seasons and is an integral part of our group of young forwards. His speed, skill and tenacity sets him apart in today’s NHL.”
The Winnipeg Jets still have Kyle Connor and Patrik Laine to sign and the Colorado Avalanche and Mikko Rantanen are still unsigned partners for the coming season.
Brayden Point remains an unsigned RFA in Tampa B with the Lightning and Matthew Tkachuk is without a new contract in Calgary.
