READING, PA – The OHL Conference finals are off and running as the Brampton Battalion defeated the Belleville Bulls 4-2, while the Windsor Spitfires won 4-3 in overtime over the London Knights.
In Belleville, Cody Hogdson scored on the power play to tie the game at 1-1 8:51 into the first period. The Battalion would go on to score four unanswered goals on their way to victory. Matt Kang scored two goals, his fourth and fifth of the playoffs. Matt Duchesne, who is expected to go in the top five of this years NHL Entry Draft, added a goal and assist. P.K. Subban scored both goals for Belleville. Brampton outshot Belleville 37-30 and went 1-5 on the power play, while Belleville went 0-4. In Windsor, the Spitfires went 4-6 on the power play to come from behind against the Knights. Ryan Ellis not only got the Spitfires too within one at 3-2, but got the game winner at 4:30 in overtime. Both of Ellis’s goals were on the power play to help give Windsor the 1-0 series lead. John Carlson had a goal and assist for London who went 1-5 on the power play. Both teams had 34 shots on goal.
