Brahmas re-sign goalie Jaeger

FORT WORTH, Tx – The Texas Brahmas have cemented their defensive, goal denying foundation with the re-signing of goaltender Brett Jaeger for the upcoming 2008 – 2009 CHL season, the third player signing for Texas in the off-season.

Jaeger, an Alberta native joined the Brahmas’ roster midway last year posting a 13-6-1 record during the regular season and in 22 games, he earned a 2.52 GAA and a .921 save percentage. Jaeger’s head turning performances in net did not go unnoticed as he was tapped Goalie of the Week from the CHL for the week of February 4-10, going 2-0 with victories against Youngstown and Bossier-Shreveport.

His play and presence was vital for the second half season turn around the Brahmas’ experienced where Texas was tagged as the league’s hottest team storming into the post-season. Unfortunately Texas’ impressive playoff run came to an end with a defeat dealt by the defending President Cup Champion Colorado Eagles in Game Seven of the Northern Conference Finals.

The five year veteran’s remarkable post-season achievements in net led all CHL goalies with a 2.30 GAA and .935 save percentage (goalies playing more than 3 games) earning him a 5-3-1 record as well as a shutout victory against the Mississippi Riverkings in the Game Two of the Northern Conference Playoffs.
The signing of the Jaeger for the upcoming season sheds some relief from the shoulders of Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong.
“Keeping Brett around was a priority during this off-season. We believe he has a unique combination of athleticism and puck handling skills, something that is difficult to find in a goaltender,” said Wildfong.

Prior to joining the Brahmas, Jaeger spent three years in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) where he earned 51-32-15 for a .913 save percentage and a 2.83 GAA as well as an inclusion on the National Conference Roster for the 2005 – 2006 ECHL All-Star game.
