Aspray Glasgow West sponsored Glasgow Clan were left empty handed after a bruising encounter with Cardiff Devils at the Vindico Arena.
Matt Barry put the puck on net early on as he forced a turnover in the Devils’ zone and fired a shot at home goalie Ben Bowns, but the pads of the Cardiff netminder forced his effort wide.
Clan netminder Antti Karjalainen got off to a strong start as he was tested continually by the Devils but managed to keep his side level throughout the opening period.
Cole Sanford got on the end of a fortunate bounce which saw him burst into the Clan zone on a breakaway, but the Devils forward was held off by Gary Haden’s stick.

Charlie Combs had a breakaway at the other end for Glasgow as he picked up a loose puck and broke in all alone on Bowns who stood tall to deflect his shot over the crossbar.
The Devils went on a powerplay early in the second period which allowed Brandon Alderson to put some points on the board as Pete Russell’s side took the lead.
Karjalainen then pulled off a show-stopping save, darting across his line to stop Wilde at the backdoor before springing out of his crease to parry the rebound attempt away.
Reece Kelly tested Bowns as he drove through the offensive zone and flicked a shot on net but was turned away by his blocker glove before he ripped a shot from the blue line that struck the pipe.
The game took a physical turn near the end of the period as Barry took a tough hit near the Cardiff net before Joey Martin was sent off his feet by Mike Pelech.

The Clan pestered the Devils net constantly in the third period as they hunted down that elusive equalising goal.
Haden was kept out by mere inches as his breakaway effort struck the crossbar in the final 10 minutes of the game.
The Devils thought they’d doubled their lead when Alderson sent the puck into the Glasgow net but it was ruled out after a review due to goaltender interference.
The hosts did eventually grab a second goal though as Ryan Barrow closed out the game with an empty net finish, sealing two points for Cardiff.
