In the second game of the night the Northeastern Huskies took on the Boston University Terriers to see who would face BC in the championship game. Sean Maguire started in net for the Terriers opposed by Ryan Ruck in net for the Huskies. The Terrier took early possession of the puck and were able to start the game out with some great chances.
Northeastern was able to build off the early strong play of Ruck and generate some chances of their own. The Terriers were able to strike first as Robbie Baillargeon batted in a Bobo Carpenter rebound, Ryan Colonna got the secondary assist on the goal. The two teams continued to trade chances with the Terriers spending a lot of time in the Huskies end.

Charlie McAvoy scored from the slot to the Terriers up by two, Danny O’Regan and Oskar Andron got the assists on the goal. They continued to go back and forth, but both goalies were strong in their respective nets. The first period ended with the Terriers leading the Huskies 2-0 and the shots 8 to 6 in favor of the Terriers.
The second period started out with both teams battling hard for the early advantages off the draw. They continued to trade rushes with BU getting the majority of the chances. Ruck stood on his head at points in the second period.
The Huskies defense couldn’t with stand the Terriers offensive push. But Ruck was phenomenal in net for the Huskies. The second period ended with the the Terriers still leading 2-0 and the shots 23 to 14 in favor of BU.
The Huskies came blackout for the third period looking to solve Maguire. The Huskies took it to the Terriers early, but Maguire stayed strong. They continued to battle back and forth with each team looking for a goal.
The Huskies finally broke through late in the third with a goal from John Stevens assisted by Matt Benning and Colton Saucerman. But it was to late as Doyle Somerby scored an empty net goal to seal the game. The Terrier took the game 3-1 with the final shots 34 to 25 in favor of the Terriers.
The Terriers and Boston College Eagles will face off in the championship for the first time since 2012, their 22nd meeting for the Beanpot. The Terriers lead 12-9 in those head-to-head meetings.
