QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. —After a scoreless first period in very boring action Quebec found themselves trailing by one early in the second period but replying with three goals in seconds and three others in third they never look back signing a 6-2 win over the Baie-Comeau Drakkard on Tuesday night. Auguste Impose with a hat trick and Nikolas Brouillard with three assists were the best on Quebec offensive. Quebec goaltender Callum Booth registered his tenth victory.
After scoreless first period where the best scoring chance came from Baie-Comeau defenseman Matthieu Desautels forcing Quebec goaltenders to make shoulder save to keep the score 0-0.
Five goals were scored in second period with Drakkar breaking the ice at even strength.
Veteran forward Fabrizzio Ricci beat Quebec netminer Callum Booth high on right side on great pass from teammate Igor Kabanov with 14:46 to go in second period.
Quebec replied with next three goals, first one coming from the stick of Dmytro Timashov. After receiving great pass from teammate defenseman Nkolas Brouillard, Timashov wrist shot deflected on Drakkar defenseman Samuel Thibault before going behind Baie-Comeau goaltender Evgeny Kiselev at 9:46.
Quebec added two more goals taking the lead for first time in the game, both goals were scored by Impose, first one at even strength second one on Quebec second power play opportunities.
Going 0-in-1 with a man advantage Baie-Comeau cut the Quebec lead in half scoring their second goal of the game. Drakkar defenseman and Colorado Avalanche second round selection 40th overall in 2015 Nicholas Meloche one-timer left no chance on Quebec goalie been beaten to his right with 2:06 remaining.
Going 1-in-3 with man advantage Quebec regained their two goal leads on their fourth power play opportunities a redirect pass from defenseman Brouillard by Charley Graaskamp at 16:04.
Trailing by two Baie-Comeau head coach Marco Pietroniro pulled his starting netminder trying to cut Quebec lead but instead Quebec center Zachary Moody used his speed to beat Drakkar defenseman to the puck going alone only had to push the puck in an empty net at 18:59.
Already registered two goals in the game Impose completed his hat trick also shooting the puck in the empty net for Quebec sixth goals getting their fifth points on possible sixth in last three games.
Quebec will be back home for next game hosting Chicoutimi Saguemeens.
No other game are on schedule in the QMJHL on Tuesday
