EDINBURGH,U.K- Following on the controversial signing of Jason Cassells from English Premier league outfit Telford Tigers, struggling Edinburgh Capitals of the Elite league have made a second signing ahead of the January deadline in a last gasp effort to hold on to the final eighth playoff slot.
Making the move to the Scotish capital is gritty forward Brad Bonello. Prior to signing for the Caps Bonello plied his trade in the CHL for a number of clubs including Dayton Bombers before settling in Texas with the Brahamas. The hard working forward is a former team mate of current Caps Taylor Christie and Mark Hurtubise. On signing his first European contract the jubilant Bonello commented; “Europe was in my plans at the start of the year but it fell through so once this oppurtunity came knocking i could not pass it up, Im going to do my best to help the team in anyway I can,” Bonello said Whilst Capitals Director of hockey Doug Christiansen spoke of his admiration for Bonello, it was Scott Neil that Christiansen singled out for praise; ” Scott (Neil) deserves a lot of the credit for the signings this week, we have been working hard to recover from the financial problems early in the season, although we are not out of the woods, we are in a better position than October,” Christiansen said ” Scott put the fans money into the on Ice product, this is a clear signal that he wants to help the Capitals reach the playoffs.
