In St Louis, the Blues cost themselves two points when they looked past the visiting San Jose Sharks on Saturday, losing in a shutout, 4-0.

Mackenzie Blackwood made 37 saves in the win.

The Sharks moved to 17-48-8), snapping a nine-game skid.

After a scoreless opening stanza, the Sharks put up a three spot on the board.

Filip Zadina opened the scoring at 8:30 of the middle frame with a strike on the short side for a 1-0 lead to San Jose.

Mikael Granlund  pushed the advantage to 2-0 at 12:05, scoring off an errant puck near the crease.

Luke Kunin stretched the lead to 3-0 at 17:58, scoring off a wide shot that bounced out for a clean shot from the right circle.

The Blues dropped to 39-31-4.

In the third period, Jan Rutta hit an empty net at 16:47 for the 4-0 final count on the scoreboard.

Joel Hofer made 16 saves in the loss.
