Blues sweep road trip

In Anaheim, the Ducks won the first period in their match with the St Louis Blues on Sunday night.

The problem for Anaheim was, there were two more periods and they lost both of those in a 4-1 loss.

Ville Husso made 25 saves for his first NHL win.

“I got the puck,” Husso said. “It’s in my pocket right now.”

Brayden Schenn scored twice for St Louis.

“Obviously he’s (Husso) been waiting for this moment,” Schenn said. “I don’t think we’ve played as good as we need to in the (previous) 1 1/2 games in front of him, and tonight he held us in it early. He made some quality saves and is very deserving of his first win, so that’ll be a good confidence booster for him.”

The Blues went 3-0-0 on the road trip.

“It’s a really good road trip by our team,” St. Louis head coach Craig Berube said. “You’ve got to find ways to win games, and in a shortened season like this, it’s really important. We did that this trip.”

Jakob Silfverberg put the Ducks up in the first period, but were never able to rattle the young goaltender.

“We are going to take some positives out of tonight, compared to the night before,” Anaheim head coach Dallas Eakins said. “We were doing a lot of very good things. We’re just going to have to continue to do those things, do some other things better, and get a little luck on our side as well.”

Sammy Blais and Colton Parayko added single markers for the Blues.

“Most teams, they’ll try to box out and try and not let you get to the front of the net, and sometimes you’ve got to win the races,” Schenn said. “I kind of seen once (Faulk) held the puck and had a little patience, I knew he was probably looking for it, so you try and win your battles.”John Gibson made 19 saves in the loss.

“They get two goals in the third period, one off of our stick and one off of our elbow,” Eakins said. “When we hit somebody’s stick or elbow, it goes in the corner. It hits us tonight, it goes in our net.”
