Blues shuffle Sharks, 5-2

In San Jose, Ville Husso made 29 saves  and the St Louis Blues easily handled the Sharks, 5-2, on Saturday night.

Ryan O’Reilly and David Perron picked up four points each on a goal apiece.

“Yesterday, I think we were a little frustrated; we didn’t kind of create enough,” O’Reilly said of his line with Perron and Jordan Kyrou. “I know for myself the last few games, I have not been creating enough offensively. I think we just had a mindset. You could see we were just coming into the zone and we had a certain hunger, we were stripping pucks, we were putting them in the areas and created some really dangerous chances. After getting on the board earlier, you could tell we just had a bit more confidence. We just kept working and got some huge goals for us tonight. It’s nice to contribute. We have to keep stepping up in times, especially as we get into these really crucial games.”

Dylan Gambrell and Tomas Hertl were the Sharks’ strikers.

Kyrou struck twice for St Louis.

“We had to (take advantage of it),” St. Louis coach Craig Berube said. “We didn’t do it on the first two power plays, so we needed to take advantage of that one, and we did.”

Vince Dunn added a single marker for the Blues.

San Jose has lost four straight and dropped to 11-14-3.

Devan Dubnyk made 16 saves in the loss.

“It’s frustrating,” Dubnyk said. “Sometimes, it just feels like it’s something each night. We’re playing well and we just can’t quite stay with it for whatever reason. We just need to figure out what that is because we’ve been playing good hockey. We’re just not getting the results.”
