In St Louis, the Blues throttled the visiting Philadelphia Flyers, 7-3, and moved into a tie for second place in the Central Division.
They are just one point back of the first place Nashville Predators and are tied with the Winnipeg Jets, who lost in overtime to the Colorado Avalanche.
“It was nice. We were finishing,” center Ryan O’Reilly said. “We came out with some good jump, we got on them right away, we got some good bounces. It gave us some spark. It was a good first for us and got us rolling offensively.”
Jordan Binnington settled down after a rocky first period and made 26 saves to get the win.
“We made some mistakes and gave up a few, but we tightened her up in the second and third,” Alexander Steen said.
Steen struck twice and O’Reilly had a goal in the win.
James van Riemsdyk, Oskar Lindblom and Claude Giroux scored for the Flyers.
“Guys have to realize they have a lot to play for still. There’s different things, like you’re playing for your teammates,” Riemsdyk said. “You don’t want to get embarrassed. Everybody looks bad on our team when we lose like that and give up seven goals. It’s embarrassing.”
Ivan Barbashev, Pat Maroon, Brayden Schenn, and David Perron also scored for the Blues.

Brian Elliott started the game and surrendered four goals and made one save; he got the hook.
“I think human nature always comes down to how much intensity you bring,” Elliott said. “When you’re not fighting for something like the playoffs, it’s a lot tougher to get up for it, but it’s still our job to win hockey games. That’s why it’s disappointing the way things unfolded tonight.”
Carter Hart made 27 saves in relief.
