Jaden Schwartz struck for two goals and three points on the night.

“It’s that time of the year. Everyone knows how big these points are and everyone wants to keep moving up and there’s teams on everyone’s heels, that’s just how it is this time of year,” Schwartz said of the position the Blues find themselves in as they have seven games left on the schedule.

Vladimir Tarasenko had a goal in the win.

“I thought after the first period, we started working a lot harder,” Steen said. “I think we’ve had our fair share of chances in the recent last few games here and have hit posts and goalies made some saves, but tonight, we kind of turned it in our favor and got some bounces for us.”

Jake Allen made 21 saves in picking up the win.

Alex Pietrangelo scored his 12th goal of the year for the Blues who got a slow start but nevertheless had a lead coming out of the first period.

“We weren’t good in the first [period], that’s for sure, and what you hope is you go in and you challenge the group to be better from that point,” Blues head coach Mike Yeo said. “What you hope is the response starts from your leaders, and we got that.”

Mike Smith made 24 saves in taking the loss as the Coyotes dropped to 27-40-9 on the season.

“I think their game turned up a little bit [in the second period] and we didn’t have the ability to turn it up,” Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett said. “A good team like that, we don’t have that much room for error with some of those mistakes we were making and end up in the back of our net, and then you’re chasing the game.”
