Blues hang on, down Canucks, 4-3

In Vancouver, Ville Husso made 22 saves in a 4-3 win for the St Louis Blues over the Canucks on Wednesday night.

“It was all around good game for us and something to build on for sure,” St Louis’ David Perron said. “We got to put like four or five in a row before we start thinking that we got something going here.”

The Blues moved to 37-20-9 with the win, and reclaimed third place in the Central Division.

Elias Pettersson hit for double in the Canucks loss.

“It’s easy to look at the standings and try to calculate how many points you need but we can’t think about ‘Oh, we need this amount of games,'” Pettersson said. “We’ve just got to try to win the next game.”

Vancouver dropped to 32-28-9.

Alex Chiasson gave the Canucks a 1-0 with 31 seconds gone in the middle frame.

“You’re thinking ‘If we can get one here, go up 3-1, good things are going to happen,'” said Canucks coach Bruce Boudreau. “And then they come back and tie it up. It sort of was a deflating goal.”

Ryan O’Reilly,  put St. Louis up, 3-2, before the end of the second.

“Big penalty kill and get a shorthanded goal and then the power play goal,” Blues coach Craig Berube said. “Special teams are such an important part of every game and they came through tonight.”

Nathan Walker scored in the third period to give the Blues a 4-2 win, the strike was the eventual game-winner.

Pettersson scored in the third to make it 4-3.

“We know how important every game is now and we’re not going down without a battle,” Pettersson said.
