On Friday night in Las Vegas, the St Louis Blues defeated the Golden Knights, 4-1.
Ryan O’Reilly, who is finding his scoring touch, struck twice in the win.
He has 10 goals in his last 11 games.
Jake Allen made 32 saves to get the win.
“We know what kind of team they are, having played them a couple of weeks ago,” Allen said. “Very offensive, very opportunistic team. They usually get their chances most games and we were able to shut them down.”
St Louis improved to 7-7-3.
Brayden Schenn and Oskar Sundqvist also scored for the Blues.
The loss for the Knights dropped them to 8-11-1.
“Definitely not the position we want to be in,” Vegas forward Max Pacioretty said. “However, we are about to face a lot of division teams. We want to try to go on this road trip knowing we can win a lot of these four-point games.
“You’ve got to win against your division to make the playoffs, and I know it’s early in the season but we’ve got to string together some wins right now and get together as a group and create our identity, because it’s been one night on, one night off throughout the year so far. That’s not good enough.”
William Carrier scored the lone Knights goal.
“Not acceptable,” Golden Knights forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare said. “We had a decent first but came out flat in the second. Not acceptable at all.”

Marc-Andre Fleury made 31 saves in the loss.
“This has happened way too often right now. Go back home, look at yourself in the mirror — that’s what I’m going to do — and come out better next game,” Bellemare said.
