On Saturday in Vancouver, the St Louis Blues snapped a dismal three-game skid with a 3-1 win over the Canucks.
Jake Allen made 30 saves to pick up the win.
“We needed a win. We didn’t want to go into the break with three days off and losing six of the last seven games,” Allen said. “If this would have been a loss, it would have been tough to go home, to be honest. It was a huge win for us to turn this ship around.”
Kyle Brodziak struck for a goal and two points in the win and Patrik Berglund and Alexander Steen also added markers in the win.
“We’re in one of those spells right now where we’re having trouble scoring, but I think we know as a group, when it’s going like that, we’ve got to tighten up defensively, give ourselves a chance to win and slowly we’ll start building our confidence back,” Brodziak said of the three-goal offense for the Blues.
Rookie Brock Boeser scored the lone Canucks goal; it as his 20th of the season.
“Our compete level was good but we have to find ways to win games,” Canucks forward Henrik Sedinsaid.
The St Louis win came one game after choking late in Edmonton after hold a 2-1 lead and seeing it evaporate in a 3-2 loss.
“It was devastating for us,” Berglund said. “We had a meeting [Friday] and addressed a lot of things that wasn’t good and we were basically talking that this game has to be really desperate and we just had to get this win.”
The Blues improved to 23-13-2 with the win.

Jacob Markstrom made 31 saves in the loss as the Canucks are in a tailspin having lost four straight and are 1-7-1 in the last nine.
“I thought he was brilliant in the third. I thought he had a couple that he’d like to have back. He’s played really well at times this year. He’s fighting that one goal here and there,” Canucks head coach Travis Green said of Markstrom.
