In St Louis, the Blues were able to hold off the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday night for a 4-3 win in regulation.
It was the Blues’ fourth straight win.
Vince Dunn had a goal and two points in the win.
“It’s always a surprise,” Dunn said. “You’re never really walking into the rink and thinking that’s going to be happening to you, but obviously coaches make decisions and you obviously have to respect that and put your head down, work even harder. I guess it was just a reset for me. I didn’t think I was playing that bad, but obviously I had a lot more to give. Obviously, that’s behind me now and just trying to forget about it.”
Jordan Binnington made 30 saves for the win.
“I think every game is a little bit different,” Blues head coach Craig Berube said. “I didn’t think we had a good start to this game, we were outshot 11-1 at one point, but we got involved and changed the momentum of the game, and that’s what we’re looking for. We’re looking for responses.
“You’re not always going to play your best hockey in certain parts of the game, but if you can change it and get a response from your team, that’s a good thing. I think we’re doing that right now.”
Christian Dvorak struck for two goals, and Nick Schmaltz added a single marker for the Coyotes.
“I thought we had a really good first period in general,” Schmaltz said. “They got that goal there, but I really liked our first. We got away from it a little bit in the second. They’ve got a lot of guys who can make plays. They got their forecheck going a little bit. We turned it over a little … it’s a tough loss.”
Mike Hoffman, Ryan O’Reilly and Justin Faulk also scored for St Louis who improved to 7-2-1.
Darcy Kuemper made 28 saves in the loss.
“We definitely had some good spurts throughout the game,” Dvorak said. “Just clean breakouts, w
hether it’s getting pucks deep on the forecheck. I was moving the puck, getting to the net, getting bodies to the net.”
