Blues edge Coyotes

On Friday night in Glendale, the St Louis Blues’ Justin Faulk potted two goals and had three points in a 4-1 win over the Arizona Coyotes.

Jordan Binnington made 24 saves to get the win.

“That was big,” Binnington said. “It’s good by Kyrou to [negate] the icing there, he made a great play to ‘Faulker,’ and Faulker put it in, and the timing of that was big, for sure. And it’s good to see we closed the game out there.”

Johan Larsson scored the Coyotes’ lone goal.

“I thought a couple of guys were a little too cute out there,” Arizona head coach Rick Tocchet said. “When you win three in a row, sometimes you feel a little too good about yourself. But, for the most part, I’m not too unhappy.”

Brayden Schenn and Ivan Barbashev added empty-net goals late in the third to ice the win for St Louis.

“We created some chances, we’re competing and working hard,” Blues head coach Craig Berube said. “These are hard games, they’re really hard. … They’re really tight.”

Darcy Kuemper made 23 saves. in the loss.

“We had a couple of mistakes that cost us the game, things we didn’t do in St. Louis,” Arizona’s Oliver Ekman-Larsson said. “We’ve been playing good against them, but we had too many turnovers and mistakes in our own end.”
