In Denver Tuesday night, Jake Allen made 26 saves to help the St Louis Blues to a 4-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche.
The win pushed the Blues into a tie with the Nashville Predators for third in the Central
Division.
Patrik Berglund struck for two goals in the win and Magnus Paajarvi and Jaden Schwartz added markers for St Louis.
“At a crucial time the guys delivered,” Schwartz said. “We lose [Stastny] and we don’t have a good start at the end of a road trip, so that was a real character win for us.”
The Avs got goals from Mark Barberio and John Mitchell.
Colorado continues to be snake-bitten and their leaders are not putting the puck in the net.
“It’s tough, it’s not going in,” the Avs’ Nathan MacKinnon said. “We had a ton of chances.”
The Blues finished a five-game roadie with the win and were 4-1-0 on the trip; the win Tuesday pushed their record to 39-28-5.

Calvin Pickard took the loss on 25 saves as the Avs dropped to 20-49-3.
“We came out jumping, had a lot of good chances. [Allen] was good in net and we missed on a couple opportunities, that flurry in the second period. We were putting pucks at the net, it looked like the net was empty a few times and we missed. We just couldn’t find a way to go up by more than one and we knew that was going to be crucial,” Avs head coach Jared Bednar said after another loss.
