The news flash in the NHL from Thursday night is the Vegas Golden Knights are not unbeatable.
It takes a monumental effort to do so but the St Louis Blues accomplished the task on home ice in a 2-1 win in regulation.
It was just the 1-th loss of the season for the expansion Knights.
With the teams tied 1-1 in the third period, the Blues’Â Paul Stastny netted the game-winner at 5:59.
Alexander Steen also scored for St Louis.
“I don’t think we focus as much on the opposition or that type of statistic with the opposition,” Steen said after the game. “I think it’s been about us, especially this homestand. It’s been a big focus on our game and what we want to accomplish. There were some good times. I think we limited their bad times within the game. Six points in the bank on this homestand’s big for us.”
Erik Haula had the lone strike for the Knights.
Carter Hutton made 32 saves to pick up the win and has been stellar for the Blues of late; he is 3-0-0 in his last three starts.
“Yeah, they’re a good team. They’re a really good team,” Hutton said of Vegas. “I thought Fleury played really, really good too. I thought early on we were better than them. And then I thought they tilted the ice. In the second, they really made a push.
“… It’s fun. It’s good to play. You play once every two weeks or three games in a row, it doesn’t matter to me. I just try to compete. No matter who’s in net, we’re gonna pull the weight around here.”
The loss snapped an eight-game win streak for Vegas.
“Well, you’ve got to start another one now, that’s what we have to do,” Vegas head coach Gerard Gallant said. “We have to bounce back from tonight’s game. Like I said, we didn’t play a bad game. We just weren’t good enough to win it and we had some good chances at the end of the game. (Carter) Hutton made some real key saves.”

Marc-Andre Fleury took the loss on 37 saves.
“It’s a little weird (losing), but we’ll learn from tonight and turn the page quick. We’ve got a big game tomorrow (against the Chicago Blackhawks) and we need those points again. We have to move on and get ready for tomorrow,” Fleury said after the loss.
