Blues brush aside lazy Rangers, 6-2 Is it any wonder the Rangers get little respect from anyone in the league?

In St Louis, Robert Thomas hit for a double on Thursday night as the Blues abused a listless  and lackadaisical New York Rangers squad, 6-2.

“Any time you’re losing, it [stinks], especially a couple in a row where you feel like one bounce and you come out on top of the game,” Thomas said. “Frustrating, but it’s nice being home in front of our fans. We would have liked to win the last game, but this was a good one, a really good one.”

Ville Husso made 27 saves in the St Louis win.

Ryan Strome and K’Andre Miller were the Rangers scorers.

“I think we were a little bit lackadaisical,” New York’s Jacob Trouba said. “I think the focus off the start, we dug ourselves some holes here. We got to our game eventually, but a sense of urgency off the start, I think, is our focus going forward ”

Ya think?

It’s a performance like Thursday night that leaves no surprises as to why the Rangers get little or no respect from the media or the rest of the league.  They are punchless.

St Louis scored three times in a span of 2:36 in the opening period.

Thomas scored twice around a goal from Ivan Barbashev for a 3-0 lead.

That’s not lackadaisical, that’s lazy.

The Blues moved to 33-17-7.

Ryan O’Reilly scored 15 seconds into the middle period for a 4-1 lead.

David Perron and Jake Walman  scored 38 seconds apart later in the middle frame for a 6-1 lead.

Igor Shesterkin got the start for New York and surrendered four goals and made 13 saves before getting the hook in the middle frame. The fourth goal came 15 seconds into the second period.

“He had no chance on the first goal and a couple tap-ins, no chance at all,” Rangers coach Gerard Gallant said. “You get frustrated and hope you wake your guys up. It didn’t really, but they should be embarrassed a little bit, the way this guy plays for them all year, and then they come out here and play like that after a game in Minnesota (a 5-2 loss to the Wild Tuesday) that we weren’t too good in.”

Alexandar Georgiev made 16 saves in a mop up role.
