Columbus’ Jakub Voracek forced extra time when he scored with four seconds left on the game clock in regulation.
Jeremy Swayman made 20 saves in the Boston win.
Vladislav Gavrikov, Gustav Nyquist and Zach Werenski also scored for the Blue Jackets.
The Bruins improved to 34-18-4.
Patrice Bergeron and Jake DeBrusk scored for the Bruins in regulation.
Columbus dropped to 28-25-3.
Erik Haula also scored for the Bruins.
Elvis Merzlikins made 28 saves in the Jackets loss.
