In Columbus, the Blue Jackets held off the St Louis Blues on Saturday, especially David Peron, who hot for hat trick in a 5-4 win.
Patrik Laine, Gustav Nyquist, and Emil Bemstrom offset the hat trick for Columbus with single markers.
“I think we are building something really good here,” Nyquist said.
Columbus moved to 32-28-3.
With Columbus up, 3-2, in the third Elvis Merzlikins, who made 19 saves, left the crease with tightness.
“I’ll take it but it’s just getting back to playing the right way,” Peron said. “I find that it’s easy when you’re down a goal. We kind of see ourselves coming on, but why can’t we play that way when it’s tighter?
“I think not playing the right way, you don’t go too far in playoffs, and we’re getting there to that point.”
Joonas Korpisalo made five saves in relief.
“I feel like it’s been a lifetime since I won a game,” Korpisalo said. “I haven’t played much, haven’t played well. Even though I let in two goals, which is not ideal, the guys did a great job there to get the win.”
Alexei Toropchenko added a single marker for the Blues.
Sean Kuraly and Jakub Voracek scored for the Blue Jackets in the third period.
Ville Husso made 22 saves in the Blues loss.
