Blue Jackets grab Game 3 win, lead series 2-1

In Columbus, the Blues Jackets’ Sergei Bobrovsky made 36 saves to hold off the Boston Bruins in a 2-1 win in Game 3.

The Blue Jackets now lead the series, 2-1.

“We had unbelievable support from our fans,” Bobrovsky said. “The atmosphere was crazy. It was fun to play. It’s a huge win for us.”

He needed to make 15 of his saves in the third period when the Bruins ramped up the attack zone time.

“The secondary saves that he’s making are very impressive, but he’s going to crack at some point,” Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo said of Bobrovsky. “I have a lot of faith that we’re going to put pucks behind him pretty soon. Credit to him today, but overall I don’t think it’s going to last.”

Boone Jenner and Matt Duchene had the Columbus goals for a 2-0 lead.

“That’s the best I’ve seen him play since I’ve been here,” Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella said Jenner. “At a very important time, obviously.”

Jake DeBrusk broke through at 19:20 of the middle frame to cut the deficit in half.

“I still think we had enough good looks to win the game,” Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said. “We hit two posts and a crossbar. [Bobrovsky] stopped a lot of other good ones. Clearly we’d love to get into the slot a little more.”

Tuukka Rask made 32 saves on the loss.

“We need to respond. They were outhitting us pretty good here, and it felt like it. We need a pushback,” DeBrusk  said. “The number of hits they had means we had the puck a lot, so that’s one of the positives, but we need a pushback.”
