Blue Jackets dim Stars in 3-2 decision

In Columbus, the Blue Jackets were looking for someone to step forward and lead them to a win.

Joonas Korpisalo did that when he made 30 saves to help the Jackets defeat the visiting Dallas Stars, 3-2.

The win improved the Blue Jackets to 3-3-0.

Miro Heiskanen and Joe Pavelski scored for the Stars who dropped to 1-6-1.

“I think it’s going to start turning next game. That’s when it’s going to start turning into wins. … We know the hole we’re in, and what’s happened. We also know we can string wins like last year when it mattered,” Stars head coach Jim Montgomery said after the loss.

Zach Werenski, Alexander Wennberg and Sonny Milano were the Columbus strikers.

Despite the win, the Blue Jackets were outplayed for much of the opening frame.

“We just sat there and watched,” Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella said. “We thought it was going to be an easy game. They have too many great players. I think they’re a good team. They’re going to find their way.”

Ben Bishop made 32 saves in the loss.

“As frustrated as we are right now, there’s 90 percent of the season left,” Bishop said. “There’s still time to fix this ship, but there’s got to be more urgency from everybody from start to end. We’ve got to find ways to get [wins], no matter how it is.”
