Blaze come from behind to stay unbeaten in regulation

Coventry Blaze defeated Dundee Stars in a high-scoring game on home ice, maintaining their record of not having lost in regulation in 2026 so far.

“It was a slow start, but then the game got exciting,” said Blaze netminder Dershan Stewart. “We weren’t happy with how we started, but we know how we can play and were happy with how we finished.”

Alessio Luciani opened the scoring midway through the first period, finishing from Matthew Gleason’s pass after Jack Hopkins’ shot rebounded off the pads. Dundee levelled late in the period through Bradley Schoonbaert on the power play.

The Stars went ahead 25 minutes in when Spencer Naas finished an odd-man rush from Johnny Curran, but the Blaze responded quickly. Grayson Constable tied the game on an odd-man rush before William Boysen put the hosts back in front just 38 seconds later. On a subsequent power play, Adam Robbins converted a rebound to extend the lead to 4-2.

“I thought it was a pretty good road game to start, a good first period, but the momentum swung with their transition game getting two past us quickly,” said Stars new recruit Johnny Curran. “I haven’t trained with the team yet – it was a case of arriving today and meeting them all – but it was good.”

Robbins added his second of the night 9:05 into the third period, before captain Kim Tallberg wrapped up the scoring with the Blaze’s sixth goal with 7:22 remaining.

“It was a surprise to start but nice,” added Stewart. “It’s always good to get in net, but great when you get the win.”
