Blainville-Boisbriand stops Quebec winning streak at three Jevpalovs' hat trick leads Armada offense in victory

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Already winning two of three meetings between the two teams and the only one played in Montreal, the Blainville-Boisbriand concluded the season series between the two teams with a 5-2 win over the Quebec Remparts stopping Philippe Boucher’s team’s winning streak at three. Nikita Jevpalovs ended the game scoring three goals in his team’s 38th victort in 61 games played.

Blainville-Boisbriand was the first team to break the ice on their home ice on Friday night. Playing in shorthanded situation with only 48 seconds gone in the first period, following a four minutes penalty to Danick Martel. Quebec tied the game on their fourth power play in the first period. Left winger Guillaume Gauthier shot deflected on Armada player before going behind Samuel Montenbeault at 15:19. For Gauthier, the goal was his 26th goal of the season, his 14th on power play.

Blainville-Boisbriand regained the lead scoring the unique goal of the middle frame. Already registering Armada first goal, the left winger who had been the European first round selection in the Canadian Junior Hockey League (140th) overall and recently signed as free agent by the NHL San Jose Sharks scores his second of the game beating Quebec netminder top corner with a backhanded shot at 10:27.

Danick Martel and Philippe Sanche got the helpers on what is the most productive line in the QMJHL.

Blainville-Boisbriand began the third period taking a two goal leads with Martel scoring his 48th of the regular season. Coming out of penalty box teammate right winger Sanche made perfect pass to Martel who went on breakaway to beat Quebec netminder with 13:51 to play.

Quebec came back cutting Armada lead to one goal again with Matt Murphy wrist shot beating Montembeault to his left at 10:3.

The Armada regained their two goal lead less than five minutes later as Alexandre Delisle-Houde pushed a rebound shot from Fabrizio Ricci behind Fucale.

Jevpalovs who already had two goals in the game completed his hat trick in an empty net with 1:01 remaining to the game.

Quebec will be back in action next Tuesday in Shawinigan facing the Cataractes.
