Blainville-Boisbriand stops Quebec winning streak Martel scores three goals in Armada victory

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Strong off their fifth consecutive win the night before against Victoriaville Tigres, Quebec entered Blainville-Boisbriand for first time in three meetings between the two teams. For the second time this season, the Armada put an end to Quebec winning streak with a 7-3 victory. Danick Martel, with a hat trick, led his team scoring five goals in nine power play opportunities. Both times Blainville-Boisbriand stopped Quebec after five consecutive wins.

Blainville-Boisbriand got the momentum in first period scoring first two goals in first half of first period before Quebec reduced the lead to only one goal differences. Blainville-Boisbriand_Armada_logo_svg

Armada center Danick Martel scores both Blainville-Boisbriand goals first one beating Quebec goaltender Callum Booth on his left side with a wrist shot with 14:36 to play in the first period.

Second one came on Armada first power play opportunity during a penalty to Quebec defenseman Nkolas Brouillard who had been found guilty of hooking. Martel scored his second with the help of Philippe Sanche and Nikita Jevpalov getting assist on both goals. Martel twenty-fifth one came at 10:25.

Quebec cut Blainville-Boisbriand leads in half 7:20 later as Guillaume Gauthier scores his seventeen of the season reaching personal goal.

Blainville-Boisbriand came back in middle frame adding three more goals to lead 5-1 after forty minutes. Brandon Hamelin scores his seventh of the regular season beating Quebec goalie over his left shoulder with 16:03 remaining to play.

Philippe Bureau-Blais made the Armada leading by three as he surprised Booth with long wrist shot to his right side at 7:03. Martel completed his hat trick with Blainville-Boisbriand fifth goals unassisted beating Booth top left corner at 18:29.

While Quebec’s goalie had been beaten twice in initial period on nine shots, in the second period Booth allowed three goals on eleven shots. Armada netminder Samuel Montembeau allowed only one goal on 19 Quebec shots.

Leading by three 5-2 after forty minutes of play the home team continued their dominations if not on the shots on goals board they dominate on main scoreboard adding two more ones conceding two other to their opponent.

After seeing his starting netminder Booth been beaten five times on twenty shots in forty minutes, Quebec head coach Philippe Boucher sent back-up Sandro Sylvestre for whom it was his first QMJHL game.

Philippe Sanche welcomed Quebec new netminder with his twenty-second goals of the regular season beating young Sylvestre with one-timer as the Armada scored their fourth goal on eight power play opportunities.

Quebec replied 57 seconds later also playing on power play. Being zero-in-three in the game, Quebec defenseman Nikolas Brouillard left no chance to Blainville-Boisbriand netminder as his one-timer beat him for the only goal on four power plays opportunity.

Armada defenseman Charlie Roy scored his first of the year giving no chance to Sylvestre as his one-timer shot beat Quebec netminder with 5:59 remaining.

Vladimir Tkachev scored Quebec third and last goal of the game as the Russian left winger beat Montembeault top left corner with wrist shot for his seventh goal of the year his third with Quebec with 3:22 left in the third period.

Quebec next game will be next Wednesday visiting Baie-Comeau facing the Drakkar.
