DULUTH, G.A. – In the second game of a two-game series against the Atlanta Gladiators, the Florida Everblades skated to a 2-0 victory. The game concludes the season series between the two sides, as the Blades locked down a perfect 7-0 record against the Glados.
Florida tallied its first goal midway through the first period off the stick of Sean Josling. Josh Ho-Sang and Bobo Carpenter provided two quick assists for a tic-tac-toe finish. The goal was Josling’s 19th of the season. The feed on Carpenter’s primary assist came from behind the goalline, setting up a play that snuck behind the entire Atlanta defense. Florida would take this 1-0 advantage to the first break.
The second period saw no goals as the Gladiators led the shot battle 7-5.
The third period was filled with opportunities from both sides of the ice, with the Everblades looking to seal the win, and the Gladiators looking to tie the contest up. Atlanta had multiple opportunities toward the Everblades net as the game winded down. However, with time running out, the Everblades potted an insurance goal. Zach Uens took a blueline shot that clanged off the far-side post and settled in the crease. Carpenter then swept in from the wings and buried the rolling puck on an unprotected net to seal his two-point game and put the Blades up by two. That’s all the scoring the Blades needed, and Atlanta would not find twine in the 2-0 final.
Special teams were a focal point for both sides, with neither team converting on the power play on Friday night. Florida went 0-for-3 on the man advantage, while Atlanta was scoreless on five power-play opportunities. When combined with Thursday’s totals, both sides are 0-for-8 on the power play against each other.
In the crease, Cam Johnson stopped each of the 23 shots he saw for the shutout and first-star honors. This is the first time the Blades have shut out a team on the road since Dec. 31, 2021, against these Gladiators. Parker Gahagen was in the cage for the Blades on that occasion. On the other side, Gustavs-Davis Gringals made 20 saves on 22 shots seen.
The Everblades wrap up the weekend with a matchup against the Savannah Ghost Pirates. Game time from EnMarket Arena is set for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6.
