The Chicago Blackhawks got a Sunday gift on the schedule when they faced the listless Edmonton Oilers.
Anton Forsberg made 32 saves for the Hawks in a 4-1 win over the Oilers.
For Edmonton, it was their sixth loss in their last seven games.
“I don’t think anyone here is happy with the recent stretch of results,” Darnell Nurse said. “It just comes down to us on the ice executing what we draw up on the boards. Comes down to us outcompeting other teams, and that’s not something we’re doing right now and we’ve got to fix it.”
Chicago improved to 20-15-6.
Nurse had the lone strike for the Oilers in otherwise typical Edmonton effort.
For Forsberg, it was his fist win in the Chicago nets since early November.
“I’ve been waiting for a while, I think it was my first win in regulation, too, so I’m happy,” Forsberg said. “It’s nice to get a win, but at the same time, I have to keep playing and get more wins, for sure. But that’s a good start.”
Brandon Saad, Nick Schmaltz, Alex DeBrincat, and Jordan Oesterle scored for the Hawks in the win.
“We got a big win tonight,” Schmaltz said. “We have to keep rolling on these home games we have coming up and just try to stay with it. Lot of games left, but at the same time, every game is important.”
The Oilers dropped to 18-22-3 with the loss.

Cam Talbot made 25 saves in taking another loss with no offensive support from up front.
“It’s a humbling game. There are times when you are on cloud nine and times when you are at the bottom of the barrel. I don’t think the last few games were a lack of effort, just some minor mistakes that lead to big goals against, and we just haven’t been able to find the back of the net, either,” Milan Lucic said after the loss.
