After a disappointing opening period on home ice in Chicago, the Blackhawks rallied from an 0-2 deficit with two goals in the second and third periods for a 4-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
Corey Crawford made 19 saves to get the win after surrendering the two early goals.
“I didn’t really feel that great at the start,” Crawford said. “[I] got in between on plays sometimes. Just little details come easier when you’re playing. Just trying to get better as I go here.”
Filip Zadina and Luke Glendening were the Detroit strikers in the first period.
“[When] you get yourself a 2-0 lead [you’ve] got to play smart hockey,” Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill said. “We’ve got to grow as a group that way. We won’t be better until we understand that we’ve got to stop beating ourselves. That’s the first step we have to take at some point here in order to be better.”
Adam Boqvist scored for the Hawks in the third period for a 3-2 and the eventual game-winner.
“I think [when] you’re so into the game, you don’t think out there,” Boqvist said. “I just go with the flow and it ended up in the net.”
Dylan Strome and Dylan Sikura scored in the middle frame to get the teams even at 2-2.
“I waited a long time for that,” Sikura said. “As much as I tried to not let it affect me, obviously at the end of the day it’s going to and it’s going hurt your confidence a little. It’s nice to get that weight off my back and hopefully get a couple more.”
Dominik Kubalik added a late empty net goal for the final tally.

Jimmy Howard made 23 saves in the loss.
“As you can see, that first period, we were doing lots of good stuff, but then I don’t know what happened,” Zadina said. “The game changed a little bit.”
