Blackhawks get past Wild, 3-1

In Chicago, Corey Crawford is starting to feel more comfortable on the ice and in the net.  That means good news for the Blackhawks who used 39 saves from their number one goalie to defeat the Minnesota Wild, 3-1.

“Overall, I think I’ve felt great,” Crawford said. “I felt good in every game and just got to battle and work to be good. I’ve felt good so far, but I felt our guys did a really good job of helping out in front of the net.”

Jonathan Toews picked up his 10th goal of the season and Brandon Saad scored in the first to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead in the first period.

“I still say again, there’s always room for improvement,” Toews said. “You’ve got to give a team like that credit. When they play well, they’re good at holding on to the puck and creating chances and you’re going to give up some. But I think our penalty kill, our power play, everything is starting to really fall into place. We’re finding our confidence.”

Zach Parise scored the Wild’s lone goal.

“It’s a good thing if we’re not accustomed to losing two in a row,” Parise said. “Now you make sure it’s not three in a row. Maybe we can get better screens in front of the net. Maybe that’s why we’re not scoring the [last] couple of games, who knows? But make sure [the skid] stops at two.”

Dominik Kahun added an empty-net goal to close the scoring.

Alex Stalock made 25 saves in the loss.

“They’re probably frustrated now. The best thing we have is a day off tomorrow. You know the way I operate; OK, it’s over. We lost the week, now let’s move on to win the next week here. That’s what we’re looking at,” Wild head coach Bruce Boudreau said of his players.
