BASINGSTOKE UK: Slovak sniper Rene Jarolin bagged the four goal of the season, as the Bison recorded their first four point weekend of the 2017.
Jarolin slammed in his first fourer for the club and his second hat-trick of the campaign in his side’s 6-1 victory over the Peterborough Phantoms.
In fact the Slovak had a hand in every goal in the match as he finished with 4+2. Both his goals and points haul equalled the club record for EPL, but was still eight behind the all time goals scored in a single game and 12 shy of the most points in a game.
Jarolin scored goals one, three, four and five in the contest with leading scoring defenceman Declan Balmer and Tomas Karpov netting the others.
The lone reply for the Phantoms minus their starting goaltender came from James Archer.
The following night, Jarolin added three more assists to his weekend’s points haul as he took over as the club’s leading points scorer.
This was in the Bison’s 5-2 win at their local rivals the Bracknell Bees and completed a clean sweep for the Herd at the Hive for the first time since 2010/11.
Basingstoke took a 2-0 lead in the game thanks to his first ever goal for the club from Dan Scott and a Dan Davies strike, before Alex Barker and Shaun Thompson pegged it back to 2-2.
The visitors won the game with three unanswered goals in the final five minutes of the second session as Derek Roehl, Matt Towalski and leading goalscorer Ciaran Long all scored.
“I was pleased with the wins and especially the fact we scored two powerplay goals in each game. The powerplay is really starting to click now with great zone coverage,” said Bison head coach Doug Sheppard.
The previous weekend, Slovak shot stopper Tomas Hiadlovsky wrote his name into the Bison record books as he picked up his fifth assist of the league campaign in the win over Guildford.
Hiadlovsky is now level in the all-time list with Curtis Cruickshank with six each, but Cruickshank has eight points in total, but this is thanks to two goals when playing as a skater in the Bison game in Edinburgh.
This weekend, the Herd are at home to Sheffield, before a tough away trip to league leaders Telford Tigers.
