BASINGSTOKE UK: The Bison will head to the Peterborough Phantoms on Sunday, knowing defeat is almost certainly going to see them finish in fourth spot in the EPL and therefore they will face the league champions the Telford Tigers in the post season.
The Herd have yet to spook the Phantoms on their home ice, and at the moment they are on a four game losing streak on the road.
Something the team will hope to snap ahead of the post season play-offs as they look once more to make it to the finals in Coventry.
“Peterborough is always a tough place to go and we have not won their so far this year so it would be nice to break our duck,” said Bison head coach Doug Sheppard.
His side only had one game last weekend, but continued their impressive home form with a 3-2 victory over the second placed Milton Keynes Lightning.
This was despite for the second game running shipping a goal in the first two minutes as top Brit Lewis Hook scored.
The Herd replied thanks to their man of the match Dan Davies to level things by the first break.
The Lightning struck again in the second session from Frankie Bakrlik, as the import fired home.
A blue line blast from Derek Roehl on the powerplay once again tied things up.
It was then left to the Bison’s leading goal scorer Ciaran Long to win the game with a strike five minutes from time.
“I was very pleased with the way we played and we want to make Basingstoke a place no one wants to come and play. With so few games left in the regular season it is important we ourselves into a winning run ahead of the play-offs,” said Sheppard.
