Bison face two games with Swindon ahead of playoffs

BASINGSTOKE UK: After a weekend off, the Bison return to action with their final two games of the regular season against local rivals the Swindon Wildcats.

The Herd travel to Wiltshire on Saturday, before they face the same team in their own barn on Sunday night.

Games on the final weekend of the regular season are often dead rubbers, but this is not the case this weekend.

The Bison are still trying to wrestle third spot away from Peterborough, while Swindon are going toe-to-toe with Guildford in the battle for fifth, which is both cases will decide which play-off groups the teams will play in.

This season the format for the post season has changed back to the old format of two groups of four teams playing a round robin competition.

The games will be played over two weekends as well as two midweek fixtures, with the top two from each group going onto to the finals weekend, with a one game semi-finals and final.

Before the Bison can focus on this, there is the little matter of facing Swindon and the Herd will be keen to round out the series with a couple of wins which would secure third spot.

Anything less and it would depend how well Peterborough do in their final game of the season on Sunday against Guildford.

Good news for the Bison ahead of the weekend is that they have a full line-up as Dan Scott and Joe Baird are back to bolster the defence.

“We have two games left to get ourselves ready for the post season. We had a weekend off, which should well helps us in what is a very busy play-off schedule.

“I like the look of our team and I think we should do well in the play-offs. We have a good start of forwards, a defence which has conceded the lowest amount of goals this season,  said Bison head coach Doug Sheppard.
