BASINGSTOKE, UK: The Bison kept alive their hopes of second spot in the EPL as they extended their winning streak to three games after a 5-1 home success over the Bracknell Bees, was quickly followed by 5-2 victory at the Peterborough Phantoms.

The win over Peterborough completed a clean sweep of wins in the Cambridgeshire rink this season and a 5-1 series success and also opened up a three point lead over 200px-LogoBasingstokeBisontheir rivals who are fourth in the table.

This was despite the home side taking a 2-1 lead at the first buzzer after Will Weldon and Edgars Bebris scored either side of Tomas Karpov strike.

The second session saw the Herd take control of the game as man-of-the-match Ciaran Long and then defenceman Miroslav Vantroba netted his third goal of the weekend and Joe Greener made it 4-2.

The only goal of the final 20 minutes from Karpov made sure of the victory.

The night before the Bison enjoyed a 5-1 win over their local rivals the Bracknell Bees.

The game did not start well for the Herd as they lost one of their top British forwards Aaron Connolly after 12 seconds after he collided with Bracknell’s Lewis Turner.

He suffered concussion and took no further part in the weekend.

Later in the first period Greener. opened the match scoring with the only goal of the first 20 minutes.

They then netted four unanswered goals in the middle session this was thanks to Greener, Joe Rand and a Vantroba brace.

The Bees scored the only goal of the final session thanks to a great solo strike from Ivan Antonov.

“It was nice to get a winning streak which want to keep going as long as we can. Peterborough is always a tough place to go so to win their three times this season is a great achievement,” said Bison player/coach Doug Sheppard.

The game are coming think and fast for the Herd with a trip to second placed Guildford Flames on Wednesday night, followed by a home game against Sheffield Steeldogs on Saturday night.

The Herd will be looking to repeat their last success in Guildford as they look to close the gap on the Flames in the battle to finish as runners-up to champions elect Telford Tigers.
