In Dallas Friday, the Stars’ Ben Bishop made all of 14 saves to pick up a 5-0 win over the New York Islanders.
“I think more than what we allowed them — we still gave up some Grade As — I thought Ben was really good tonight,” Stars head coach Ken Hitchcock said. “I thought Ben was really competitive and he was battling like crazy in the net, and he was very good. Because every period it seemed we gave him two qualities (saves). I thought he was excellent.”
Dallas’s goals came from five different skaters including John Klingberg, Gemel Smith, Esa Lindell, Mattias Janmark, and Jason Spezza.
“It’s frustrating. I think it’s a long season,” the Isles’ Josh Bailey said. “You play 82 games, obviously you’re not going to have your ‘A’ game every night, and tonight was certainly one of those nights.”
Dallas improved to 9-7-0 on the season with the win.
“I think it was a pretty complete game from us top to bottom,” Spezza said. “We did a good job of getting out to that big lead, we’ve talked about playing from behind, how it’s been tough on us. Tonight we made sure we were the team on top early.”

Jaroslav Halak made 21 saves as the Islanders dropped to 8-6-2.
“It was just a terrible game by us, right from the puck drop to our power play and our penalty kill. It’s unacceptable and we can’t be like that. It was just an awful game,” the Isles’Â Johnny Boychuksaid of the New York effort.
