In Tampa Saturday night, the Anaheim Ducks lost their second straight but at least picked up the loser’s point in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Lightning.
Brian Boyle was credited with the game-winner when he scored in the fourth round of the skills competition.
The Ducks had little going on offense forcing Ben Bishop to make just 14 saves through extra time.
“Obviously, winning’s a lot more fun,” Lightning forward Tyler Johnson said. “When you get two points, it’s big for us. We were up 2-1 and they ended up getting that second goal. But we kept on pushing, and that was huge for us.”
Brandon Montour and Ryan Getzlaf scored for the Ducks in regulation.
“I thought our guys did a good job battling back,” Getzlaf said. “We battled hard in this game. With the numbers of penalties that we had, I don’t even know what the number was (nine), but it felt like we were [penalty killing] all night long. We got a point. We’ve got to be happy with that but not satisfied.”
Alex Killorn and Jonathan Drouin were the goal scorers for the Bolts.
“To start getting points and playing the right way and being consistent is something we want to build on,” Killorn said. “I think we still have to be a little bit better at the end, but it’s nice to have this, to win for our fans and win for our team.”

Jonathan Bernier made 35 saves in taking the loss.
The Ducks trailed 2-1 early the third but Getzlaf got them even with under five minutes gone in the final frame.
“I didn’t like giving up the lead,” Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. “The big thing for us was maybe in recent games here we might have wilted, but the guys stepped up a notch and kept creating chances.”
