Bishop, Faksa lead Stars past Knights, 3-0

The Vegas Golden Knights have had great success on The Strip but Tuesday night they ran into a hot goalie and hot scorer.

Radek Faksa struck for a natural hat trick in a 3-0 win for the Dallas Stars.

“Those were huge goals for us,” Faksa said of his first NHL hat trick. “For sure, I’m happy with the goals. The most important thing, though, is the team win.”

Ben Bishop picked up his second shutout of the season with 34 saves.

“I don’t think we had enough traffic in front of [the net],” Vegas’ Alex Tuch said. “I thought [Bishop] saw a lot of pucks, some of the wide-angle shots he was taking were very lackadaisical. He’s a big body and he doesn’t have to move as much. … You just gotta find ways to score.”

The Knights had won eight straight at home.

“I thought tonight we couldn’t get to the net. I think their D did a real good job tonight, boxing us out, keeping us away from the front of the net. We had some scoring chances, but not a whole lot of great ones. We probably had six or seven minutes where we made some mistakes, and it cost us, but overall I thought we played a good game,” Vegas head coach Gerard Gallant said of the team’s failed offense on the night.

Malcolm Subban made 2 saves in the loss, his first with the Knights.

“[Dallas] is a good team and obviously they showed it,” Subban said. “They’re gifted offensively, and they came out and made some plays.”
