Big weekend set keeps Bison on roll

BASINGSTOKE UK: The Bison were back to their best last weekend as they reeled off two big wins on the road in Swindon and then at home to high flying Milton Keynes.
The Herd’s trip to Wiltshire turned into a real battle as 167 penalty minutes were dished out, as three players were thrown out of the game.200px-LogoBasingstokeBison

This came at the mid point of the contest as Swindon’s player/coach Aaron Nell received a game for third man in and Kyle Smith was accessed a match for tough and a game for leaving the bench. The Bison lost captain Aaron Connolly also on a match penalty for roughing.

At this point, the Bison led 2-0 thanks to goals from Derek Roehl and man of the match Rene Jarolin.

Swindon set-up a grandstand finish to the game when Jonas Hoog scored at 56:22, but despite a late six-on-four advantage, they were unable to force the game into overtime.
The following night, second placed MK arrived in the Basingstoke and were unable to find a way past Slovak shot stopper Tomas Hiadlovsky, as turned away all 23 shots he faced.

Once again Roehl opened the Bison account, with a super solo goal as he skated all around the end zone before scoring.

Man of the match Dan Davies added a second in the middle period and then Ciaran Long made it 3-0 with eight minutes left.

The final powerplay of the game at 55:39, saw MK pull their netminder, so they could ice three import forwards, but it backfired as Tomas Karpov scored a shorthanded empty netter.

“I was really pleased with the whole weekend. I felt we played solid from back to front and played like a team. I want us to carry this on, as we will be difficult to beat,” said Bison head coach Doug Sheppard.

This weekend, the Herd have just one game which is at home to Guildford, the only side to have beaten them in the last 10 games.
