Tyler Bertuzzi was awarded a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Detroit Red Wings by an independent arbitrator on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old forward, who was a restricted free agent, had a salary arbitration hearing on Sunday. He can become a restricted free agent after this season.
Bertuzzi set an NHL career high in points (48) and tied his high in goals (21) in 71 games with Detroit last season and was selected to the 2020 NHL All-Star Game.
Selected by Detroit in the second round (No. 58) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Bertuzzi has scored 119 points (49 goals, 70 assists) in 199 regular-season games.
