Bernier, Ducks blank Hawks, 1-0

In Chicago Thursday, Jonathan Bernier made 43 saves in a 1-0  win over the Blackhawks.

For Bernier, it was his 100th career NHL win.

“You don’t really focus on [milestones],” Bernier said. “[These] are the types of games as a goalie, on the road, you need to show up and bring your A game, and I felt really good tonight.”

Corey Perry was the game’s lone goal scorer as potted the marker in the second period.

“Hopefully you peak at the right time of the year,” Perry said. “You’ve got to get ready and keep pushing. I mean, there’s teams behind us that are pushing for a [Stanley Cup Playoff] spot. Every point’s crucial in this league right now.”

The loss prevented the Hawks from leap-frogging the Minnesota Wild who had their own issues scoring in a 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

“We did a lot of good things, not scoring,” Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville said. “I thought our shot, either selection or net-front presence, was a little off. We had some good looks with no finish, but definitely did a lot of good things.”

Corey Crawford made 25 saves in taking the loss.

Crawford faced only two shots in the fist period as the Chicago outshot the Ducks 19-2 in the opening frame.

“We were flatter than something on a plate, if you want to fill in the blank. We regrouped, and it wasn’t pretty,” Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle
