The Belfast Giants scored a couple of 2nd period goals in quick succession and never fully relinquished that advantage the rest of the way during a 5-2 win over the Flames on Spectrum ice.
Less than 4 minutes after faceoff, Matt Alvaro’s 1st league strike of the campaign set Spectrum’s men to a lead but David Goodwin levelled in relatively short order and the remainder of the period timed out without any further scoring.
Giants went ahead by a couple early in the 2nd with a Jordan Kawaguchi powerplay goal at 25:22 and a Scott Conway follow up less than 60 seconds later, but a 34th minute Josh Waller reply pulled Flames within a single to start the 3rd.
Inside the back 10 minutes, Giants all but put the game away with a Jake Gaudet strike and a late empty netter by Marcus Eriksson.
Jake Kupsky had the Flames start and made 42 saves on 46 shots opposing Jackson Whistle who recorded the Giants win turning away 29 shots on 31 attempts.
