Bees look to sting back

BRACKNELL, UK – The Bracknell Bees have the chance to seek revenge on Guildford after last weekend’s disappointing defeat.
The Bees were beaten 11-5 by the Flames thanks to hat-tricks from David Savage and Nathan Rempel. Bracknell captain Terry Miles, said: “We let ourselves down a bit at the weekend. We went back to our bad old ways at the start, which you can’t do against a team like Guildford. We got better as the game went on, but it was too late by then. But it’s good we’ve got a chance to get back at them straight away.”
The Bees managed five goals and out-shot the Flames, but leaked goals at the back. The Bees won’t have long to digest their turkey, playing Guildford on Boxing Day before hosting Peterborough the very next day. Miles added: “We’re all professionals at the end of the day, so they’re just like any other games. You always need to be prepared, it’s just part of the game.”
With local pride at stake once again, the Bees will be calling on their passionate support to help them out. “There’s a lot of good teams locally, so we always want to be at our best. We had a great crowd at the weekend, and we always do when we’re at home or wherever we go. We don’t like letting any of our fans down.” said Miles.
The Bees will be without Czech pair, Jaroslav Cesky and Michal Pinc who have flown home for Christmas. However, they have been boosted in recent weeks by the return of Adam Bicknell. The former Bees captain returned earlier this month after leaving the club last season while there was uncertainty over the club’s future. Miles explained: “It’s like he’s never been away. It’s good to have someone the boys listen to with so much experience.” Bicknell’s return looks even more important following news centre Ryan Watt has joined local rivals, the Slough jets.
While there is a lot at stake in Saturday’s game against Guildford, Sunday’s match with Peterborough is just as important with the Phantoms only one place above the Bees in the league standings. “We’ve all got a lot of ambition, so as well as making sure we secure a playoff place, we’re always looking to chase those in front of us as well. We’re always able to score goals, so we just need to tighten up at the back a bit, but hopefully we can have a good weekend.” Comment on this story Comment@prohockeynews.com
