Becoming a pro hockey player in Europe is a dream chased by countless skaters in North America; it has been a long, tough road to make their dream come true.
The way to Europe is marked by putting up the numbers to get noticed, having great connections to agents, and being fortunate to be in the right place at the right time.
Too many college and major junior players are just simply out of luck when it is the time to turn pro, and face the sad reality of having to find a job and “hang them up” without even getting a chance to show what they’ve got.
As pro hockey teams in Europe become aware of the talent emerging from the college and major junior leagues, they are increasingly looking for young and motivated import talent.
To optimize their recruiting efforts, the Become A Pro camp was created.
Become A Pro is a showcase where the top 40 college hockey players will be invited to play a five-game series in the Italian Alps in May 2016.
During this camp, the players will showcase themselves to representatives from multiple teams, be educated on the European hockey system and have an opportunity to talk with scouts and general managers directly.
This will all take place in South Tyrol, Italy, one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Become A Pro is an innovative way of giving the players a well deserved chance to make it happen for themselves.
The Become A Pro showcase is also an opportunity for European Pro hockey teams to get exclusive access to some of the best talent emerging from the college and junior leagues in North America. An NHL scout will be on the stands advising the teams and analyzing all the players.
Pro Hockey Europe is responsible for organizing the camp and is currently recruiting and inviting the players for the showcase. The list of invites is already posted on their website and they are about to make their final selections. More information can be found on their website: www.ProHockeyEurope.com
We are eager to see what this amazing opportunity brings to the young players and how it will shape and optimize the way import players make their way to the European stage.
