Bears win in overtime
ALBANY, NY – The Hershey Bears have made it a habit of coming from behind so far this playoff season. Usually those comebacks have been from one goal deficits. On Tuesday night, the Bears decided to try something new, like come from two goals down to win a playoff game. That’s exactly what Hershey did in game three as the Bears came back from two separate two goal deficits by winning in overtime 6-5 to defeat the Albany River Rats and take a commanding 3-0 lead in their second round playoff series. Jay Beagle played the hero scoring in overtime at the 16:14 mark to end the game. Chris Bourque scored twice for the Bears and Braden Holtby made 27 saves on 32 shots. Justin Peters took the loss for Albany who made 37 saves on 43 shots. The win gives Hershey a 7-1 record in the playoffs and a combined record of 67-18-0-3 record (regular season and playoffs). The Bears can close out the series on Thursday night in Albany. If the Bears win the series they will play the winner of the Worchester Sharks/Manchester Monarchs series. The Sharks lead that series 1-0.
Over in the Western Conference, the Hamilton Bulldogs will face-off against the Abbotsford Heat beginning Thursday night while the Chocago Wolves take on the Texas Stars starting on Friday. Contact the author at Brian.Jennings@prohockeynews.com
