HERSHEY, Pa – The last time the Hershey Bears won the AHL’s Calder Cup was in 2010 when they won their league leading 11th title. After winning Friday night in Game One against the Toronto Marlies 3-2 in the Eastern Conference Finals, the reality of winning their 12th appears closer and closer with each win. 
After being down 1-0 after the first period thanks to the Toronto Maple Leafs top prospect William Nylander’s third goal of the playoffs, Hershey scored three unanswered goals from Carter Camper, Liam O’Brien, and former Maple Leaf Zach Sill put give Hershey the win. Neither teams’ goaltender was tested that much with only 43 combined shots on net but Justin Peters will take his 19 saves on 20 shot for the win.
Antoine Bibeau had 20 saves on 23 shots. The Marlies came into the game with the league’s leading offense.
Game Two is Saturday night in Hershey. Friday’s game was the 600th playoff game in the Bears history. The Bears are now have a record of 324-276 in those games.
Hershey is the AHL the affiliate of the Washington Capitals.
Their ECHL counterparts are in the Eastern Conference Finals of their league as well with the Wheeling Nailers who are the ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
