Bears smother Worcester in goals, win 10-4 Bears move on, Sharks swim to California

HERSHEY, PA – Who says they don’t score goals in hockey anymore. Led by Casey Wellman’s hat trick the Hershey Bears scored 10 goals in a 10-4 victory over the Worcester Sharks in Game Four of their best-of-five Eastern Conference Quarterfinal playoff series to propel the AHL’s winningest franchise into round two and continue their quest of the franchises AHL record championship number 12. 2015 Calder Cup logo

Casey Wellman was one point shy of tying the team record for most points in one playoff game with three goals and one assist for a four point night. Chris brown scored 24 seconds into the game for the Bears, followed by two more unanswered goals, and Hershey was off and running. The Bears outscored Worcester 4-1 in the first period and never looked back.

Hershey put up 20 shots in the second period and pelted the Shark net for a 48-34 shot edge on the night with Brown leading the way with 10 of his own followed by Wellman’s 8. All four goaltenders played in tonight’s game and had to suffer a combined 14 power play opportunities. The Bears finished the night going 4-9 while Worcester went 1-5.

Hershey awaits the winner of the Manchester Monarchs-Portland Pirates series who will conclude their series Saturday night in Manchester, Ma. The Hartford Wolfpack will play the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins in round two.

The Western Conference has only one series that is set. The Oklahoma City Barons will face-off against the Rockford Ice Hogs in round two.
