HERSHEY, PA – The Hershey Bears defeated the   Bridgeport Sound Tigers 4-1 by dominating Game Five from start to finish to clinching the series and 4-1 and will now take on the Albany River Rats in the East Division finals beginning Saturday night. The Bears advance past the first round for the fourth time in five years while the Sound Tigers were elimination in the first round for the second consecutive season. Hershey had a 13-1 shot advantage in the first period and had taken 23 of the game’s first 24 shots and outshot Bridgeport 34-7 for the game.   Kyle Wilson had a goal and assist while Alexandre Giroux , Karl Alzner and Zach Miskovic added goals as well for Hershey found the back of the net. Giroux leads all AHL scorers with six goals and nine points in five postseason games. Defenseman Dylan Reese scored the Sound Tigers only goal of the game in the first period. Bears goaltender Michal Neuvirth got the win in net and is not 3-0 this postseason while Mikko Kostinen took the lost for the Sound Tigers.
In other AHL news the Worchester Sharks defeated the Lowell Devils 5-1 and will now take on the Manchester Monarchs in the Atlantic Division Finals that will begin on Sunday.
